  Unfortunately some may see that a lot of the passion has been lost over the discussion about the name.

  Believe me the passion is there. It is there from all of you who are posting, donating and volunteering.

  Cedars is a front man rignt now. One, BTW, who needs a well-deserved break from all the hard work he has put into this over the last few months.

  This isn't the only discussion board that knows about AAWA. Many of you have posted the message on ohter boards and we appreciate that.

  And we have listened to your thoughts. The truth is we are anti-WT-policies that hurt people. Our mandate is to expose WT policies and to help those who have been hurt. We have discussed it and we do see merit in what you say. We even really like some of your suggestions. But the bottom line it is done. It might be changed at some point in the future but for now the board has decided to stay with it.

  So the work, the passion, and the need is to expose those WT policies that hurt people. That is where we need to focus our energies. And we will see how it works out.

  Can we stop talking about the name and focus on the mission and planned strategies?

  AAWA is not just about providing support to those who have been hurt by the WTS. That is a big part of it but the look at the key objectives

  1. Key Objectives

  AAWA is committed to two key objectives:

  1. Raising awareness both inside and outside the Watchtower organization of its damaging beliefs and practices
  2. Assisting those who wish to leave the organization by making it easier for such ones to get the help and support they need

  To achieve these objectives, AAWA will:

  • Establish a network of willing volunteers who may assist AAWA according to their individual skills and circumstances
  • Devise and implement new campaigns and strategies with the help and cooperation of its associates
  • Provide support to those who are already actively involved in campaigns and strategies against the Watchtower organization
  • Accept donations and ensure that these are only spent for the purpose of meeting these key objectives

  That first one is all about anti-WT policies. Expose them in any and every way possible. That is activism at its best and we do want the best. We need to warn the public so that the WTS doesn't get new people to hurt. We need to expose those policies so that JWs themselves understand just how controlling and toxic those policies are to them. And we do that because many of us have family and friends and even some we didn't like so much who are still involved and we want the best for them. I could care less if they want to wait for Armageddon to come. In the meantime I don't want them bullied and scared into acting in ways that go against normal and healthy relationships and do no harm to the individual JWs.

  5.Establish three venues to address victims' needs and interests: A.Women's issues B. Children's issues C.Family related issues

  This actually breaks down to smaller issues:

  • Abuses
    • Child sexual abuse
    • physical abuse
    • emotional abuse
    • Spousal abuse
      • Unbelieving mates (UBMx and those dating a JW
    • Homosexuality
  • Custody Battles
  • Shunning
  • Blood issues
  • Mental heath and suicide prevention

  We are looking for people who have a particular interest or experience dealing with any of these issues to help us give the needed Please volunteer. Even if you aren't interested in responding to people who are seeking information or support there are plenty of other ways you can help.

  It is already ugly for faders

  If someone is being stalked by elders or other JWs we can support them and suggest various avenues to get the stalkers off their backs. As JWs we learned to sit back and accept whatever happens. Hopefully we can empower people to stand up for themselves and use whatever legal menas necessary to protect themselves if they need that. For example, stalking is a crime and needs to be reported to the police. It doesn't matter who is doing it. If a child of an ex-JW non-custodial parent is being told that parent is evil, Satanic and demon-inspired by the JWs in their lives the non-custodial parent has the right to address this issue in court. While we cannot give out legal advice we can recommend they talk to their lawyer re: alienation of affection between the parent and the child.

  The WTS needs to stop telling JWs to act in a way that breaks the law. We want to provide people with the information they need to protect themselves and point them in the right direction

  What I like about this whole concept is that it is about informing the public (to prevent new people from getting involved), providing people with the information they need to make important decisions in their lives and to help those who are suffering.

  If this was about getting JWs out I wouldn't be involved. If it was about attacking the JWs or even the WTS I wouldn't be involved.

  I volunteered to work in Support because that is what I am good at. It is what I want to do.

  Rest assured that if you choose to volunteer your skills will be matched with the team that best suits you.

  I noticed a few people said they wanted to volunteer but weren't ready yet. Come when you can. If you just feel unprepared especially when it comes to answering requests either by letter email or phone, you will get the infomation you need to do the work well. and you will get all the support you need.

  Those forms are totally off our radar.

  If we can get churches to distribute a flier to their parishioners who can then hand them out to JWs who come to their doors..... I would love to see the face of the JW who gets it. Hopefully some will pocket it and read it when they are home and do some serious thinking

  The goal here is not to tell JWs to leave. It is to help those who have already left or are in the process of doing so, or those who have doubts and just need someone safe to talk to.

  theQO asked valid questions. How is th AAWA gonna handle the questions from their watchers? write a letter to the headquarters?
